The 37th Ryder Cup will be played at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, September 16-21, 2008. The Ryder Cup is the most spirited, exciting and compelling event in all of golf. In its 80 years of history, this prestigious international competition has involved the greatest players in the world and generated some of the most memorable moments in sports. The Ryder Cup pairs 12 of the top American golfers against 12 of their European counterparts. The event is held every two years, alternating between U.S. and European sites. It is expected to draw more than 210,000 spectators to Valhalla Golf Club during six days of practice rounds and competition – the highest attendance ever for a sporting event held in Kentucky. More than 25 hours of live television coverage is planned, reaching over 545 million viewers in 177 countries. Louisville is ready to host in our own, original way. Louisville Metro Mayor Jerry Abramson has appointed a Host Committee to create THE CUP EXPERIENCE with fun-packed activities surrounding the Ryder Cup that include the entire community. THE CUP EXPERIENCE will provide ways for local and regional businesses, local citizens and out-of-town visitors to participate in the Ryder Cup celebration, regardless of whether they have tickets to the event.
